When we can’t find something, we make it!
Or at least when nothing viable comes up in Google’s first two pages of search results for “viscosity cup singapore”. Most results that turned up were laboratory grade type which costs at least $50 and up. Since we were just going to measure paint finishes, we really didn’t need that sort of accuracy and price tag.
Its times like this that we are thankful for our 3D printer.
In fact, what is more fantastic than a 3d printer is the 3d printing community. Why?
Because in the process of surfing on “Thingiverse”, we actually came across a 3D model of a Ford #4(ish) Viscosity Dip Cup. How convenient!
After the print was done, we sanded down some rough edges and applied “Smooth-On’s XTC-3D” as protective coating.
Next, we cut out a strip from a sheet of 1.5mm thick aluminium , bent it into a comfortable handle, and glued it on to the cup. Wala! We are done.
Tried and tested. Accurate enough for our usage. Happy as a bee.
